The Humble Grumble
A little bit about the pugs in our care
Daphne
Introducing Daphne, a stunning 12-year-old sweetheart. You'll see she's another pug pirate - one of her eyes was punctured in her past and never treated. :( Recently, she underwent surgery to remove four cancerous mast cell tumors and is currently in the process of healing. Daphne has an incredibly gentle and affectionate nature, despite her past home where she lived in a shed. With her sweet, chill vibe, Daphne is all about loving life.
Finicky Finley
Finley is a 10-year-old good boy who came into hospice when his owner's cancer treatments left her too ill to care for him. He had a close call during a dental procedure where he died on the table, but pulled through. Due to anesthesia risks, his dental problems are being treated with antibiotics for life.
Maggie Mae
Maggie Mae is a sweet 14-year-old girl who is blind, deaf, and needs to have all her teeth removed. She also has Lyme's Disease and renal failure. Even with all her disabilities, she has no problem finding her food bowl. Her favorite pastimes are eating, sleeping anywhere, and snoring quite loudly.
Patches
Patches came into rescue as a badly malnourished and neglected 9-year-old girl who looked 15. She has a severe, chronic skin disease and skin yeast infection which makes her smell bad :( Patches is scared of people, and lived in a basement her entire life and had no vet care. Patches came into rescue when her owners moved and left her behind. Foster Mom Anne is helping Patches to trust again.
Pebbles
Meet Pebbles, a petite 15-year-old dealing with two large inoperable hanging cancerous tumors. Pebbles also has a collapsed trachea, but her delicate health makes pursuing treatment a risky choice. Alongside all this, she battles a seizure disorder and relies on medication to keep it in check. Although blind in one eye and almost blind in the other, Pebbles still manages to navigate the puggy palace. She'll spend the rest of her days surrounded by comfort and love.
Robbie (RJ)
Meet Robbie, an 11-year-old, one-eyed boy. He was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea and his prognosis was grim: only a month or two at best. Robbie got new hope with a trial drug that has opened his trachea so he can breathe easier. Robbie might be living on borrowed time, but each day is a gift and he's living his best life. Because of his risky health situation, the anesthesia required for neutering isn't safe. So, he's going to rock bellybands as his lifelong accessory.
Sophie
Sophie is a sweet 13-year-old girl with a collapsed trachea. She has just started life saving drugs to hopefully open her trachea. She was given two weeks to live but is doing so much better. It is a 3-month treatment and are hoping for the best. She is a very loving girl and quite the chow hound.
Sweetie Pie
Sweetie Pie is an 8-year-old pug girl who came into rescue with ulcers on both eyes. The ulcers are now being treated, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that she will be able to keep both eyes. Sweetie Pie has one of the cutest faces around, and just seeing her squishy mug makes foster mom Anne smile.
